Is a certified Stott Pilates instructor, a certified GYROTONIC® instructor and a former principal dancer for the Kansas City Ballet.

An injury at a young age led her to become a student of Pilates. She never lost interest in the method and used it as a tool to maintain a healthy strong body for ballet. In 2000, she decided to begin her certification process in the Stott Pilates method, with the initial goal of sharing her love of Pilates with fellow dancers.

After completing her certification in 2003, she realized the benefits Pilates could provide for people of all fitness levels. Her clients appreciate her focus, warmth, and positive approach. She has a unique ability  to design programs to fit a client’s individual needs and goals. Stefani is also a certified GYROTONIC® instructor and loves to help people determine which method will provide the best results for their individual needs.

It is a personal goal for Stefani to continue her education in both methodologies and has completed training for people with injuries and special populations, pre/post natal, athletic conditioning, and specialized work for golfers.

Is a Kansas City native who returned to the Midwest after spending several years in Las Vegas attending university, dancing professionally, and teaching Pilates. Her study of Pilates began as a student while earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With training in ballet, modern and jazz, Shelby’s professional dance experience spans from a contemporary dance company to the world-famous Donn Arden’s ‘Jubilee!’ on the Las Vegas Strip.

While in graduate school at UNLV completing her Masters in Kinesiology, Shelby received her Comprehensive Pilates Training through the DK Body Balance method. Her interest in Pilates became personal when it was prescribed to treat a dance-related injury. Shelby views Pilates as an important tool for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and increased function of the body. Shelby’s combined education, training, and experience allows her to individualize instruction in a variety of formats and for all levels of ability at Physiques.

katie

waechter

A local from the Overland Park area, spent her childhood through early adult years as a ballet student and continues to work closely with performance groups, retailers, and artists in the local dance community. She ended up in the traditional ‘9-5’ lifestyle and pursued a degree in English Literature, but quickly missed motion in her life. Her passion for dance and the body in motion was reignited when she took her first Pilates reformer session after straying into a local studio. In 2013, she decided to complete her Pilates certification through UNLV’s D.K. Body Balance method. Teaching Pilates has brought much joy to her life as she incorporates coordination, joint mobility, flexibility, choreography, and a mind-body experience to her classes.

The eternal progression and practice of Pilates for every body is what Katie strives to focus on in every class, for every client. Our bodies are ever changing and there is no physical practice out there that is more accommodating to that mindset than Pilates. Katie’s own injuries, performance, and pregnancy/delivery experience has helped influence her mentality behind teaching Pilates.

With the support of dedicated mentors, instructors, family and friends, she completed her Pilates Sports Center (PSC) instructor certification in February 2019. Karen’s main goal is to motivate her clients to joy in their workouts and to support each client as they achieve their unique goals.
